Today let’s take a walk down memory lane and explore the sounds of Nu Shooz, an ‘80s dance-pop act from Portland, Oregon.
The duo of (husband and wife) John Smith and Valerie Day hit big in 1986 with an all time classic, that still sounds fresh to the present day.
I’ve compiled a playlist with their hottest songs from their two commercially most succesful ‘80s albums.
Our sound journey will take us through Poolside (1986) and Told U So (1988), kicking things off in spring of ‘86 and coming to a close in early summer of ‘88.
Please enjoy our journey.
“I Can’t Wait” became the biggest hit for Nu Shooz. The song topped Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play chart and crossed over to the pop chart, climbing to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in summer of ‘86. Taken from their debut album Poolside which went platinum in the US.
