Do you like the sound of a saxophone when you listen to a song? If so, you’ve come to the right place. How bout taking a journey into sax sounds in pop music history?
I’ve compiled a playlist with 22 heavily sax-infused songs. Those will take us through four decades of sax songs.
1963 will be our launching pad with a classic movie theme song (you most likely know …). With 1996 as our destination port, our sound journey will come to a close with a cuddly tune featuring two of the hottest acts in ‘90s pop/R&B.

It’s summer of ‘81. Foreigner releases “Urgent” as lead single from their fourth studio album 4. The single rocks its way to #1 on Billboard’s Rock Tracks chart, crosses over to the Hot 100, and climbs to #4. 4 will soon work its way to the #1 slot on Billboard’s album chart and stay for a staggering 10 weeks (and selling over six million copies in the U.S. alone).

Another heavy-hitter from summer of ‘81. Rick James’ “Super Freak” rises to the occasion and dances straight ahead to the top of Billboard’s Dance Club Play chart. The pop audience also embraces the song and makes him climbing to #16 on the Hot 100 chart. Taken from “Street Sounds”.
